Profile:
Employee of the Year Fernando Garcia
Working at one of the premier luxury hotels in the world means gaining a special perspective of the inner workings of the resort, as well as its high-profile guests. There is no better go-to person who represents The Setai better than our esteemed Head Concierge Fernando Garcia.

Six years after joining The Setai team, Fernando feels “honored” to work at one of the Leading Hotels of the World and to have been named Employee of the Year. “Most of our guests know what they want and it’s an extraordinary adventure to work fulfilling their individual requests and needs,” says Fernando.

A born and raised South Floridian with prior experience at several distinguished hotels, Fernando Garcia describes the best part of his job — “when I receive a genuine thank you from a guest. Whether I am simply pulling some strings to get a guest a coveted table at an exclusive sold out party, or have just located floor seat tickets to a once-in-a-lifetime basketball game and convinced the owner to sell them to us. A genuine heartfelt thank you is the single most fulfilling part of my job.”

The Setai is proud to have Fernando as its employee of the year, as someone who truly brings the “wow” factor to the guest experience each and every day and will continue to do so for many guests and residents to come.

Destination: Spring Culture Preview
Besides its stunning beachside location, Miami is a flourishing city where new things are constantly on the move and cultures are coming together, often in new and inspiring ways. From the Frank Gehry-designed New World to modern theater works and contemporary art galleries, Miami’s cultural calendar is filled with a wealth of distinctive and artistic happenings throughout the season.

Here is a list of some noteworthy happenings to look out for upon your next visit to The Setai South Beach.

New World Symphony Center:
The New World Center opened in January 2011 to much fanfare, with the architectural abuzz about its Frank Gehry design and classical music enthusiasts excited to have such a distinctive venue to enjoy their favorites. While its primary purpose is to act as campus and performance hall for the best and brightest instrumentalists from around the nation, the New World Center has served many purposes for the arts community. The adjoining park hosts free movie screenings on Wednesday evenings and Wallcasts on select Saturdays, as well as plays host to an array of mini-concerts, “the Pulse: Symphony After Dark series” which blends electronic music with orchestral music, concerts for kids, visiting conductors and more.

Beyond its permanent collection, the Bass Museum showcases a stunning Egyptian gallery, along with temporary exhibitions such as "Erwin Wurm: Beauty Business". Wurm, an artist living and working in Vienna, combines various art forms including sculpture, photography and performance into a unique personal view of the everyday world. A docent led tour of the museum and current exhibitions is also available every Saturday at 2pm.
